About Me
Hi, my name is Guy Thampakkul, and I am a PhD student at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. My research interests lie in foundations of deep learning and interactive machine learning. In 2023, I received my B.A. in Computer Science and Mathematics from Pomona College. At Pomona, I was advised by Anthony Clark and Jo Hardin. I wrote my senior thesis titled Depth Quantile Functions for Supervised Clustering with Gabe Chandler.
In the summer of 2022, I participated in a Mathematics REU at Yale University as part of the Machine Learning Group advised by Smita Krishnaswamy, Ian Adelstein, Michael Perlmutter, and Dhananjay Bhaskar. We worked on the problem of embedding point cloud data sampled from an underlying manifold with an associated flow.
Hobbies
In my leisure time, I enjoy playing board games, writing, and hiking. I am also a big fan of playing soccer, tennis, and basketball and like watching the NBA, the NFL, and Formula 1.
I am motivated by social good and the thrill of discovering and learning. I am a life-long learner looking to make an impact.
Have an awesome day!
